Silk was actually born in Fredericton (New Brunswick), Canada. Ilkay is the mother of Peter who is an educator as well as a leading actress and playwright. Peter was educated at St. Thomas University. Anna remembers her mother working in the theatre and going to rehearsals. Silk produced a number of commercials when she was still a kid. The year 1997 was the time she earned a bachelor's degree from St. Thomas University. Theatre St. Thomas was active in at least two of the early stage productions which included Seven Menus (1997) and The Kitchen (1999). Silk moved to Toronto for her acting to progress in the month of November 1999. In the following decade, she moved into Los Angeles. Seth Cooperman became her husband in 2007, after they met during an ActorsWorkshop held located in Los Angeles. They were engaged in 2009 and were married in a civil wedding ceremony in December. The 10th of April, 2011, they renewed their vows at a Jewish ceremony held in Fredericton after she had converted to Judaism.
